Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is once again in trouble with the authorities, as the son of Julio Cesar Chavez was deported on Monday, August 19, after being arrested in the United States. Subsequently, Chavez Jr. was incarcerated in Refresco 11, a federal prison located in northern Mexico in the state of Sonora

However, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is now free and what was most striking is that, despite the serious charges facing the son of Julio Cesar Chavez, the boxer was released on probation, but without any kind of bracelet.

When was Julio Cesar Chavez Jr released?

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. was released on Sunday, August 24. Boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will continue his process on probation, Chavez Jr.’s lawyer, Fernando Benitez, clarified why Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. was released from prison without an ankle bracelet, despite being on probation: “He does not have an ankle bracelet, the prosecutor’s office did not ask for it and I obviously would not do it either and I would not do it for anything“.

Although he will not wear the bracelet, Chavez Jr. will have to follow certain measures such as not leaving Mexico without authorization, nor having contact with anyone involved in the investigation and having to attend all hearings punctually.

What was Julio Cesar Chavez Jr accused of?

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. was accused of being linked to the Sinaloa Cartel, according to his lawyer, Chavez Jr. was prosecuted for: “organized crime in the form of participating, without management, administration or leadership functions, for the clandestine introduction into Mexico of firearms“.

The judge determined that the prosecutor’s office did not justify the need for Chavez Jr. to remain in pre-trial detention, as there was no risk of flight, so after six days in jail, Chavez Jr. was released on parole. The prosecutor’s office will now have three months to conduct an investigation to prove that Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. was linked to the Sinaloa Cartel.
