Why Arch Manning’s family might block his NFL dreams with the New York Jets

As Arch Manning heads into his fourth season as quarterback of the Texas Longhorns, the conversation around his next step, a likely entry into the 2027 NFL Draft, has taken an unexpected turn.

The chatter has become a mediadriven narrative stirring speculation that Manning‘s family might have a say in where he lands in the professional ranks.

Manning‘s college resume so far includes a 103 season for Texas, capped by a 41-27 win over the Michigan Wolverines in the Citrus Bowl, and a 2025 stat line of 248 completions on 404 attempts for 3,163 yards with 26 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

His decision to return to Texas instead of declaring earlier for the draft has only magnified focus on his future trajectory.

Analysts and fans alike have already begun debating which NFL franchise will secure the coveted top pick. While his talent makes him a likely first overall selection, one voice has stirred considerable controversy over which team will actually land him.

Legendary radio personality Mike Francesa recently weighed in on the topic during an episode of The Mike Francesa Podcast. He expressed skepticism that the New York Jets could draft Manning, citing the family’s historical influence over career decisions.

“it will probably make you hate the Mannings more if you’re a Jet fan and you hate the Mannings already, because remember, Peyton didn’t want to play for the Jets. They will not let Arch Manning play for the Jets,” Francesca stated.

According to Francesca, Jets fans should brace themselves for disappointment, as he believes the Mannings would “manipulate the draft” to ensure Arch does not end up in New York.

Manning family legacy vs. Draft destiny

Arch Manning‘s lineage has always placed him under intense scrutiny. With Peyton Manning and Eli Manning achieving Hall of Fame careers and Super Bowl victories with the Indianapolis Colts and New York Giants respectively, expectations are naturally sky-high.

The Manning family is known for guiding its members carefully, ensuring decisions are made with both talent development and long-term legacy in mind. Francesa’s remarks suggest that Arch‘s professional path may be as influenced by family strategy as it is by on-field performance.

Whether the Mannings will intervene in Arch‘s draft destination remains unconfirmed, but the narrative has already fueled debates among NFL fans, particularly those loyal to franchises projected to pick early.

As Manning prepares for another season with Texas, scouts, analysts, and fans will be watching closely to see how his final college campaign shapes his draft stock-and which team will ultimately secure one of football’s most coveted prospects.
