The United States is coming off a 55-52 victory over Italy, its lowest-scoring performance at a Women’s World Cup since 1984. Jackie Young led the way with 10 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals, while Angel Reese added eight points, three rebounds, two blocks, and one steal to help secure a spot in the quarterfinals.
“Obviously, Italy really made things difficult for us and made it hard to score,”Breanna Stewart said. “They’re a great team… This is a very tough tournament, and we all know that.”
