Who will be the leaders dominating statistics for the rest of the decade?

Each NFL season, the league’s dominant players deliver unique performances, and in most cases, they manage to surpass what they achieved in the previous campaign. Every record they set each year places them at the very top of the statistical charts, and their ambition is to remain at that elite level throughout their careers.

Passing yards: the dominant players

In the early years of this decade, the players who have stood out in this category are the ones capable of carrying their teams to higher stages and positioning them as true NFL powerhouses.

Predictions for the 2025 season

Most passing yards: Patrick Mahomes. He recorded more yards than Josh Allen and Justin Herbert, and for this year, he is expected to maintain that same standard. Analysts believe he will run less often with the ball, partly to preserve his health and ensure his durability.

Most passing touchdowns: Patrick Mahomes. He has consistently kept this statistic at a high level. While Josh Allen also racks up numerous touchdowns, many of those come on the ground. Mahomes, by contrast, continues to dominate through the air and remains the most reliable figure in this category.

Rushing yards: Saquon Barkley. The star of the reigning NFL champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, Barkley’s power in the backfield is unmatched. With the offensive line that helped him dominate last season still intact, he is projected to remain number one, with a strong chance of once again surpassing 2,000 yards.

Rushing touchdowns: Jalen Hurts. Though not a running back, Hurts has a remarkable ability to gain yards on the ground. Combined with the now-iconic “tush push” play, which has delivered impressive scoring totals for the Eagles with Hurts under center, this trend is expected to continue in 2025 without much change.

Receptions: Justin Jefferson. The Minnesota Vikings receiver edges out Dallas Cowboys star Ceedee Lamb by a narrow margin. Based on last year’s production, Jefferson is positioned to dominate again in 2025, solidifying his status as the best in the league.

Receiving yards: Justin Jefferson. With the numbers projected for him this season, it is logical to assume he will also lead in total yardage gained per reception, further boosting his dominance.

Receiving touchdowns: Ja’Marr Chase. Now fully established alongside quarterback Joe Burrow, with whom he has always shared a special connection, Chase appears primed to lead this category. His youth gives him an additional edge over rivals such as Ceedee Lamb and Justin Jefferson.

Sacks leader: Micah Parsons. Pending resolution of his contract situation with the Cowboys, the Dallas defensive star possesses all the tools to be the league’s top pass rusher. While Myles Garrett could challenge him, Parsons seems more consistent and consolidated at this stage.

Interceptions: Derek Stingley Jr. With 11 interceptions in just three seasons, he currently ranks 24th in the nation. The Texans’ rebuilt secondary is expected to significantly aid his production and help elevate his numbers further.

With just two weeks remaining until kickoff, predictions abound. Still, it will be through the unfolding of the season that the true statistical leaders and favorites will emerge.
