Portuguese midfielder and Manchester City captain Bernardo Silva has emerged as one of the candidates to join the pink-and-black club to maintain its competitiveness in MLS.
Silva-Messi could become a reality
According to the Italian newspaper ‘La Gazzetta Dello Sport,’ (via Bolavip) the ‘Herons’ are pinning their hopes on CR7’s teammate on the Portuguese national team, as he will become a free agent in June.
After eight seasons at the Etihad Stadium, the 31-year-old star is not expected to renew his contract with the Citizens and has hinted at his desire to take on a new challenge away from England. For this reason, Javier Mascherano’s team has emerged as one of the leading contenders to sign the Portuguese star, who would bring his experience, creativity, and leadership alongside the Argentine star to bolster the midfield, currently led by Ayala, Bright, and De Paul.
With this possibility, the dream of seeing Bernardo and Messi play together gains momentum and could become one of the most notable signings of the upcoming transfer window, transcending the historic and sporting rivalry between Ronaldo and Messi.
However, David Beckham’s team is not the only one looking to sign Silva. Juventus, Barcelona, Benfica, and Galatasaray have also shown interest in the player, who, given his status, could arrange his move to any club directly and at no cost.
