Cole also has an impressive history against Toronto, going 9-2 with a 2.75 ERA across 18 career starts against the Blue Jays. Bieber, meanwhile, has gone 2-0 with a 2.86 ERA in four Rogers Centre starts this season.
Yankees arrive with pressure building
New York‘s trip north comes after a 1-0 loss to the Seattle Mariners, although the Yankees still finished their recent homestand 5-4 after winning their previous two series.
They remain 6.5 games behind the division leading Tampa Bay Rays, making this three-game set particularly important. Toronto sits further back, but the Blue Jays have already shown they can complicate New York’s season.
The Yankees will also enter without several familiar offensive weapons. Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger are among the players currently listed on the injured list, leaving New York to find production elsewhere as the playoff race tightens.
