At 41 years of age, Cristiano Ronaldo is the top scorer in the history of soccer and can increase more records in the World Cup, but his participation causes uncertainty because it is not known for certain – or has not been informed – what is the true seriousness of his injury and what are the consequences.

The Portuguese traveled to Spain to undergo special rehabilitation with his personal physiotherapist. Initial medical reports indicated that the recovery process is estimated at two to four weeks.

In addition to missing the friendly matches against the United States and Mexico, the medical recommendation is not to risk him in any match with Al-Nassr during the month of March.

When is Cristiano Ronaldo expected to play again?

According to information from the Saudi newspaper Al-Sharq Al-Awsat, the Portuguese star will return to Saudi Arabia at the end of March after undergoing the final stage of his recovery in Madrid.

He is expected to return to the field on April 3 for the match against Al-Najma, the bottom team in the Saudi league

The records he is chasing in 2026

Living the final stage of his career, Cristiano Ronaldo was looking forward to this year because he has three goals to fulfill in order to establish himself as the greatest of all time:

  • Reach and break the 1000-goal mark
  • Alongside Lionel Messi, set the record for six World Cups
  • To be world champion with Portugal

Of these three goals, two are in danger of not being achieved. If it is confirmed that he will not be at the World Cup, Messi will be the only footballer to have played in six consecutive editions of the tournament.
