The FIFA Club World Cup has entered a new era, and after the historic 2025 tournament in the United States, the eyes of the world are already on the next edition

With a revamped format, million-dollar prizes and growing global expectations, the 2029 Club World Cup promises to be another milestone on the football calendar. Here we tell you when it will be played, where it could be held and which teams are already qualified.

When will the 2029 Club World Cup be played?

Although FIFA has not yet officially confirmed the exact dates of the tournament, the 2029 Club World Cup is expected to be played during the northern hemisphere summer, between June and July, following the same schedule as the 2025 edition. This window avoids conflicts with major European leagues and continental tournaments, and ensures a larger global audience.

Where will it be played? Brazil wants to host

One of the most talked about topics is the possible venue for the tournament. According to reports, Brazil has officially expressed its interest in hosting the 2029 Club World Cup. The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has already started talks with FIFA and has proposed several cities as potential hosts, including Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Belo Horizonte.

Brazil has a solid infrastructure, top-notch stadiums inherited from the 2014 World Cup and a fan base passionate about soccer. In addition, it would be the first time that the new format of the tournament will be held in South America, which would add a very attractive historical and cultural component.

Teams already qualified for 2029

Although there are still four years to go until the tournament, several teams have already secured their place in the 2029 Club World Cup thanks to their recent achievements in continental competitions. According to DAZN, these are some of the clubs that already have their ticket secured:

UEFA (Europe)

  • Manchester City (2022-23 UEFA Champions League winners)
  • Real Madrid (2023-24 Champions League winners)
  • Chelsea or PSG (depending on the result of the 2025 Club World Cup)

CONMEBOL (South America)

  • Flamengo (2022 Copa Libertadores champion)
  • Fluminense (2023 Copa Libertadores champion)

AFC (Asia)

  • Urawa Red Diamonds (2022 AFC Champions League winners)

CAF (Africa)

  • Al Ahly (2022-23 CAF Champions League)

CONCACAF (North America)

  • Club Leon (2023 CONCACAF Champions League winners)

OFC (Oceania)

  • Auckland City (2023 OFC Champions League winners)

In addition to these teams, other clubs will be added as the editions of the continental tournaments progress until 2028. FIFA could also allocate additional places by ranking or invitation, as happened in 2025.

A tournament that continues to grow

The 2029 Club World Cup will retain the format of 32 teams, with a group stage followed by direct knockout rounds. This model has been well received by clubs, federations and fans, as it offers more high-level matches and greater global representation.

In addition, FIFA is expected to maintain or even increase the prize pool, which in 2025 reached $2 billion, with 50 million for the champion. This makes the tournament one of the most lucrative competitions in world football.

The next Club World Cup is shaping up to be an unmissable event. With Brazil as the possible host, elite teams already qualified and an unprecedented financial structure, the 2029 edition promises to exceed all expectations. As the date approaches, the excitement will only grow.
