What’s next for Bryson DeChambeau in LIV Golf? Brooks Koepka’s departure raises questions

The dynamics of professional golf are in flux again, with Bryson DeChambeau addressing renewed questions about his future in the breakaway LIV Golf League just days after Brooks Koepka confirmed his departure from the circuit.

DeChambeau‘s comments and contract situation have taken on greater significance as LIV Golf copes with the exit of one of its biggest names.

For years, DeChambeau has been one of the most visible faces of LIV Golf since leaving the PGA Tour in 2022 in a deal worth over $100 million.

His profile has only grown amid his major championship success and his role as captain of Crushers GC.

Yet with Koepka‘s decision to step away from LIV early, a move that sent shockwaves through the sport, DeChambeau‘s future is suddenly under fresh scrutiny.

Back in June, DeChambeau confirmed that his current contract runs through the end of 2026 and acknowledged ongoing negotiations for a possible early extension.

“We’re looking to negotiate end of this year, and I’m very excited,” he said at the time, adding that both sides see value in continuing their partnership.

But now, Brooks Koepka‘s decision to leave LIV Golf has sent ripples through the sport, and it has also underscored the complexity of his own future.

Koepka, a five-time major champion and one of the earliest high-profile signees to the Saudi-backed circuit, announced this month that he and LIV had parted ways in what the league described as a “mutual” decision to end his stint ahead of the 2026 season.

That development has thrust DeChambeau back into the spotlight. His contract with LIV runs through the end of 2026, and while he has indicated a desire to continue, he stopped short of guaranteeing a fresh deal before the next season kicks off in February.

“It’s confidential. I’m not going to share too much, but the conversations are in process,” DeChambeau told Flushing It in a wide-ranging discussion about his future.

“We have to get to a place where both parties have a good understanding of one another. It is getting to a place that makes sense for both sides.”

LIV Golf at a crossroads

Koepka‘s exit this month, a mutual decision described as driven by family priorities and a desire for a change of pace, has added a new layer to the narrative.

The five-time major champion won’t compete on the LIV circuit in 2026, leaving Crushers GC and other teams to reconfigure leadership and strategy.

At the same time, the departure has prompted fresh discussion across golf circles about the long-term viability of LIV‘s model.

With one of its marquee signings now gone, questions loom over talent retention and the league’s ability to attract or re-sign other high-profile players.

Analysts point out that if DeChambeau, arguably the league’s biggest draw, were to reconsider his path or push for a move to a different tour, LIV Golf‘s value proposition could be tested in new ways.
