What’s cooking in the Cowboys’ offices? Dallas reporter gives a hint about another Jerry Jones move

The 32 NFL teams are preparing for the start of training camps ahead of preseason games and the regular season, which will begin the first weekend in September.

In just three months, NFL fans will be enjoying another season, and the Dallas Cowboys will have to work with one goal in mind: to prove to their fans that they are willing to shake off the stereotype of a team that does not know how to win important games.

The Cowboys have not been to a Super Bowl since the 1995 season, so the team’s owner, Jerry Jones, is obligated to return the team to the greatness of many years ago.

Some might call it a curse, but it’s more of a structural issue, so Jones is gearing up for another preseason move.

Dallas closed two impressive deals this preseason. The first was the trade of Joe Milton with the Patriots, a smart move as the franchise will not suffer great financial losses if Milton does not thrive in Dallas.

Then came the arrival of wide receiver George Pickens, whom the Steelers were eager to trade, and Jones jumped at the chance to sign him.

Now, another possible transfer, perhaps not as big, but equally significant, is in the works.

The Cowboys could strengthen their secondary with a free agent

Reporter Joseph Hoyt, who covers the Cowboys year-round, noted that there is a remote possibility that an experienced deep defender could come in to strengthen the team’s secondary.

When a fan asked him about the arrival of cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. in Dallas, Hoyt responded: “It looks like it could be some time before he signs,” leaving the door open for the defensive back to arrive in Dallas.

Samuel was selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, played for the Los Angeles Chargers from 2021 to 2024, and is currently a major free agent on the market.

After finishing his four-year, $7,222,946 contract with the Chargers, Samuel has played 50 games and made 176 tackles, 148 of which were solo. He has also recovered a fumble and has a total of six interceptions, so he can become an important weapon for a defense that was ranked 17th against the pass.
