What warning did a former Buffalo Bills quarterback give to Josh Allen? No. 17 is under more pressure than ever

It’s clear that last season the Bills had only one objective: reaching the Super Bowl. They were the heavy favorites in the AFC, and it seemed like it was finally going to be the year for Josh Allen. Anything less would be considered a failure-and that’s exactly what happened after they were eliminated in the Divisional Round in overtime against the Denver Broncos.

What made it even more painful was that the playoffs did not include the Kansas City Chiefs led by Patrick Mahomes, the Baltimore Ravens with Lamar Jackson, or the Cincinnati Bengals with Joe Burrow. For many analysts, that meant the path had opened up for Allen and the Bills. However, their playoff demons appeared once again, and in that game against the Broncos, Allen turned the ball over four times.

Now the Bills enter the upcoming season once again as one of the favorites in the AFC alongside the Baltimore Ravens. That’s why anything short of reaching the Super Bowl-set to be played in Los Angeles-would be considered another disappointment in the career of Josh Allen. His career has been outstanding, but it still lacks the crowning achievement of a Super Bowl ring. Unfortunately, in sports, the word “deserve” often means very little.

Josh Allen has a new weapon

Since the Buffalo Bills lost Stefon Diggs two seasons ago, Josh Allen had not had a true No. 1 wide receiver. The team tried to improvise with different options, but it simply didn’t work, and it became a major need for the Bills’ offense.

Now they finally have one after acquiring DJ Moore via trade. Moore has had a strong career with the Carolina Panthers and the Chicago Bears, although he is coming off the least productive season of his career, barely surpassing 600 receiving yards.

Even so, he is still considered a top receiver in the NFL and could be a key piece in helping Allen reach his ultimate goal.

“This is kind of the piece the Bills have been looking for for a few years,” said former Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick on the Fitz and Whit podcast. “I think he plays his best in the biggest games. He’ll be back in the playoffs next year, and we’ll get to see more of that from him.”

There is no doubt that Bills fans are among the most passionate in the NFL, and Fitzpatrick highlighted that the team’s culture-both inside and outside the locker room-should be a perfect fit for Moore.

“The other part of it is the culture he’s walking into,” Fitzpatrick said. “I think that’s the strongest part about the Bills team. And from everything I’ve heard from people around the organizations that have worked with DJ Moore, he’s only going to add to that culture with his personality and work ethic. That’s going to be huge.”

Moore previously signed a four-year contract extension worth around $110 million while playing for the Chicago Bears. After the trade, that contract transferred to the Buffalo Bills, meaning Buffalo is now responsible for honoring the remaining terms of the deal.
