What to do if you’re not going to the 2026 World Cup in the United States

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is already building anticipation, but there’s also a reality many fans share: not everyone was able to secure a ticket or will have the chance to travel to the host cities. Because of that, alternatives are already being activated to experience the tournament from different spaces.

The FIFA World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026, and it will be the first edition hosted across three countries: the United States, Mexico, and Canada. With high demand for tickets, host cities are preparing public gathering points for fans.

The main option will be the official FIFA Fan Festival, designed so supporters can watch matches on giant screens with a stadium-like atmosphere, live music, and activities around each game. Entry will be free, although subject to capacity limits, meaning access will depend on how full each venue gets. It is important to note that not all locations have confirmed yet whether entry will remain completely free or if any additional costs or conditions could apply, as some details are still being finalized.

Confirmed host locations in the United States

For now, several locations have already been announced as reference points for the public, among others:

  • Miami: Bayfront Park
  • Los Angeles: Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum
  • Dallas: Fair Park
  • Atlanta: Centennial Olympic Park
  • Philadelphia: Lemon Hill in Fairmount Park
  • Boston: City Hall Plaza

Beyond the Fan Festivals, matches will also be broadcast on free-to-air television, allowing fans to follow every game from home. The idea is simple: everyone should be able to choose how they experience the World Cup, whether in public spaces or with family at home.

And if you’ve already decided to watch it from home, here are a few recommendations:

  • Prepare snacks in advance if friends or family are coming over
  • If you’re going out to buy things, plan ahead for traffic
  • If you’re ordering delivery, keep in mind it may take longer than usual, so order early
  • Create a comfortable, stadium-like atmosphere at home, because even if you’re not there, you can still feel the excitement
