The first update of the year of the FIFA Ranking has arrived, prior to the 2026 World Cup, where important teams have moved up or down in the list of the best or worst team and where Argentina has been for many years at the top of the world.
The current world champions hope to repeat the feat with Lionel Messi and company, in search of adding another star to their jersey. Prior to the World Cup, we tell you what is the position of the Albiceleste in the ranking, as well as some Latin Americanteams.
The Albiceleste maintains its place in the ranking as it had no major problems qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, being the best in CONMEBOL. Spain, for its part, has managed to stay there thanks to the excellent matches it has had in qualifying for the World Cup, as well as reaching the final of the Nations League, where it lost to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal. Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele’s France remains in third place, also unchanged.
In this latest update of the FIFA ranking, from seventh to first place, there were no changes in positions; however, from eighth place onwards is where the teams have fallen or risen.
In seventh position is Netherlands, in sixth place Portugal, in fifth place Brazil, in fourth place England, and the top three are France, Argentina and Spain.
Which American teams are among FIFA’s top 50?
The highest ranked team from America is Argentina in second place, followed by Brazil in fifth place, and outside the top 10 is Colombia in 14th place, followed by United States in 15th place, Mexico in 16th place and Uruguay in 17th place
Further down, in the top 20, Ecuador is in 23rd place, Canada in 29th place, Panama in 33rd place, Paraguay in 40th place and Venezuela in 50th place.
