Yes, the first edition of the Messi Cup will be held in Miami in December 2025. The Argentine star, through his production company, announced the launch of this innovative international youth soccer tournament that will bring together some of the most prestigious clubs in the world at U16 level.

The first edition will be held in Miami from December 9 to 14 with a high level of competition, but not only that. The Messi Cup will also bring different cultural and sports industry events.

What are the teams that will participate in the Messi Cup?

The Messi Cup will be a new concept in youth soccer, as it will combine sport and entertainment for young and old. Its mission is to generate long-term value for athletes in the development of their careers.

The tournament will feature eight world-class clubs: Inter Miami, Barcelona, Manchester City, River Plate, Inter Milan, Newell’s Old Boys, Atletico Madrid and Chelsea. Over six days, these teams will play a total of 18 matches at some of Miami’s most iconic venues, including Inter Miami CF’s Chase Stadium.

The competition format of the Messi Cup in Miami

In addition, the Faena Forum will host a soccer industry summit bringing together important figures from sports, culture and business, while Pao by Paul Qui will be the venue for the Messi Cup Summit Party, the official party that consolidates the event as a unique fusion of soccer and cultural celebration.

The competition format will divide the teams into two groups of four, who will face each other in a round-robin phase over the first three days. This will be followed by a playoff to determine the final positions. On the final day, the third-place match and the grand final will be played, both at Inter Miami CF’s Chase Stadium, where the first ever Messi Cup champion will be crowned.

“The Messi Cup is the meeting point between today’s football and the players of tomorrow,” said Tim Pastore, CEO of 525 Rosario, the star’s production company. “It is an opportunity to celebrate talent, culture and community, creating legacies and bonds that will endure beyond the field of play.”
