What is Juan Soto’s real age? Conspiracy theory claims he is older than he claims

Although the Dominican baseball player, Juan Soto, has not yet taken his first at-bat as a star player for the New York Mets, rumors, speculations and details continue to emerge about his millionaire arrival with the Metropolitans

And no wonder, Soto is a generational talent who has shown his skills since he arrived, very young, to Major League Baseball. However, among the rumors that exist about his career and his legacy there is one that looks implausible, but has generated a significant amount of speculation on social networks, as it claims that Juan Soto is not 26 years old as officially reported, but is already a 33-year-old veteran.

The message from the account @MLBONFAX states that it has “confidential documents” that confirm its claim and immediately generated a great controversy. However, it should be noted that the account is a parody, and the rumor is false

Falsifying data on young prospects

However, as far-fetched as the case may seem, there was a case of serious data falsification in the past and it ended in a very unfortunate way. It was a player named Cesar Altagracia, who was supposedly taken as a 14-year-old prospect. However, when his official documentation was investigated, it turned out that he was actually 19 years old

In order to attract the attention of the league, he falsified his documents to enroll in youth tournaments, where he earned a lucrative contract with the San Diego Padres. However, he lost it all because of this fraud. In the case of Juan Soto, his career is well documented.

Juan Soto’s profile

Soto was officially born on October 25, 1998, so he will turn 26 this year and his age has been verified several times. He entered professional baseball in 2015 when he signed a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals at the start of a stellar career. He soon made it to the majors, at just 19 years and 207 days old, as the youngest player to debut in MLB in 2018

He was also the first player born in 1998 to set foot on a major league field. He then had a brilliant stint with the San Diego Padres and in 2023, he landed with the New York Yankees before moving to the Mets, on a historic $765 million, 15-year contract, to become the highest-paid player in MLB history.

However, there is a lot of pressure on Soto, as he is expected to lead the Mets back to their first World Series in more than two decades, as the key piece of the New York team, along with Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso. In addition, the Mets were last crowned in 1986. “He will try to build a winning team every year. And he’s capable of doing that. And I give him all my trust. I hope to be happy,” he said of Mets owner Steve Cohen during his presentation.
