The boxing promoter is currently going through difficult times and in public he has been seen not in his best form.
Donald King has never hidden his sympathy for his namesake, Donald Trump, which adds a touch of controversy to the figure who took over the ring in his heyday.
What is Don King doing today?
Don King is a name synonymous with boxing’s golden era. As one of the sport’s most influential and controversial promoters, he has worked with icons such as Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson and George Foreman.
Currently, Don King, at 93 years of age, although he is still a promoter of a small number of boxers, the billboards and the spotlight of those great fights in Las Vegas or New York are a thing of the past.
In September, Don King spent more than a week in hospital due to health problems, according to TMZ Sports. He underwent a blood transfusion during his 10-day stay and is now recovering at home.
Donald Trump and Don King are one for the other
For more than three decades, boxing promoter Don King and Donald Trump have shared a lasting friendship and some similarities.
Now, the unmistakable boxing promoter has opted to actively support the candidacy of former President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.
When asked if he had any message for former President Trump, at an event in May this year, Don King said the tycoon should be re-elected:
Let him be re-elected. We must re-elect him to save ourselves. A vote for Trump is a vote for oneself. Because we have to fight against the system of lies and the creation of wrong as right and right as wrong. That has to be removed.
Former President Trump shared the video of the interview on his social media platform, Truth Social, and thanked Mr. King for his support.
