Although the NFL offseason might seem like a time for rest, players maintain an intense routine to stay fit, improve their skills and recover from possible injuries.

This period is key for his physical and mental preparation for the upcoming season.

Rules and physical preparation

During the offseason, practices are voluntary, beginning in April, with a maximum of four sessions per week. These practices focus on improving strength, endurance and flexibility.

Players follow routines of weightlifting, cardiovascular exercises such as running or swimming, and activities to improve their flexibility such as yoga or massages. All of this is done without physical contact, to avoid injury and prioritize safety.

In addition to training, players focus on honing their specific skills. Quarterbacks often organize informal practices with receivers to improve timing and throwing time, and also study past games through video analysis to identify areas for improvement and analyze their future opponents.

Recovery and personal time

The offseason is essential for players to recover from injuries or surgeries they sustained during the previous season. They work with physiotherapists and focus on preventive exercises to avoid future injuries.

In addition, they take the time to be with family, take vacations and participate in community or charitable activities. Some even take the opportunity to study or further develop their personal brand.

With the start of training camps, players increase the intensity of their workouts. They study the new playbook and improve their mental conditioning, working with sports psychologists to strengthen their concentration and resilience

The offseason is not simply a period of rest, but a key opportunity for players to prepare physically and mentally, reaching their best state to face the challenges ahead.
