What Barcelona need to win LaLiga after their Clasico victory: Almost impossible for Real Madrid

LaLiga almost decided: Barcelona have dealt what could be a decisive blow in the championship race. Their victory over Real Madrid in the Clasico at Montjuic takes their lead to seven points (82 vs. 75) with only three games remaining

Barca one step away from the title

With this margin, Hansi Flick’s side only need one more win or two draws to mathematically secure the title. It could come as early as the next matchday, in their visit to Espanyol. Even if Madrid beat Mallorca, Barca would be champions on matchday 37 if they repeat their victory against Sevilla.

Real Madrid must win the three games they have left and hope that Barcelona do not pick up more than two points in theirs, which seems unlikely. A comeback for Los Blancos seems epic, while Barcelona are on the verge of glory.

If Barcelona manage at least two draws, they will finish LaLiga with 84 points. Real Madrid, who are obliged to win all three of their matches, can reach the same figure, but the Catalans will prevail having won the head-to-head.

On the other hand, if Madrid do not win their next match against Mallorca, the Catalans will be the new champions, regardless of what happens in their visit to Espanyol.

Real Madrid and Barcelona’s remaining scheduleReal Madrid

  • Matchday 36: vs Mallorca (15/05, Santiago Bernabeu)
  • Matchday 37: vs Villarreal (18/05, Estadio de la Ceramica)
  • Matchday 38: vs Athletic Club (25/05, Santiago Bernabeu)

Barcelona

  • Matchday 36: vs Espanyol (14/05, RCDE Stadium)
  • Matchday 37: vs Sevilla (18/05, Montjuïc)
  • Matchday 38: vs Real Sociedad (25/05, Reale Arena)

Everything indicates that the Catalans will win another LaLiga title. The Clasico was a thrilling encounter and it seems that it was the decisive step for Xavi’s side to seal the competition
