Vladimir Guerrero Sr. celebrated his son’s 2025 ALCS MVP award, highlighting the sacrifices and dedication that propelled Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to lead the Toronto Blue Jays past the Seattle Mariners and into the World Series.

Guerrero Jr. finished the series with a .385 batting average, collecting 10 hits, including three home runs and three doubles, driving in four runs and scoring six, cementing his role as the team’s postseason leader.

The 26-year-old also drew four walks while striking out just twice, finishing the series with a 1.330 OPS. After the Blue Jays dropped the first two games, Guerrero Jr.‘s consistency helped the team rally and claim their first World Series berth since 1993.

Vladimir Guerrero Sr., a Hall of Famer, shared his pride in an Instagram post following his son’s ALCS MVP win.

“I’ve seen every sacrifice, every workout, every team,” Guerrero Sr. wrote online. “Watching him become the ALCS MVP is the reward for all of it. You’re great, son!”

A family enriched in baseball history

Guerrero Sr. reached the World Series once in 2010 with the Texas Rangers but lost in five games to the San Francisco Giants.

He is a nine-time All-Star, eight-time Silver Slugger, and the 2004 American League MVP.

He began his career with the Montreal Expos from 1996 to 2003 before joining the Los Angeles Angels in 2004, where he played until 2009. His final MLB seasons were spent with the Rangers and Baltimore Orioles, completing a storied career despite missing a championship ring.

In Game 6 of the ALCS, Guerrero Jr. helped the Blue Jays to a 6-2 victory, hitting a solo home run and scoring on a wild pitch. He went 2-for-4 at the plate, continuing his dominant postseason performance that earned him ALCS MVP honors.

Throughout the series, Guerrero Jr. displayed both patience and power at the plate, consistently producing in crucial moments. His offensive leadership and ability to perform under pressure were key to Toronto‘s comeback from an 0-2 deficit.

When does the 2025 World Series start?

As the Blue Jays advance to the World Series, all eyes will be on Guerrero Jr. to see if he can maintain his form and guide Toronto to its first championship in over three decades, further solidifying his place among baseball’s elite young stars.

The ALCS MVP award adds a major milestone to Guerrero Jr.‘s growing career and emphasizes the culmination of years of sacrifice, training, and resilience – a journey his father has long observed and celebrated.

Game 1 between the Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers will take place on Friday, October 24, with Toronto welcoming Shohei Ohtani to the Rogers Centre from 20:00 ET / 17:00 PT.

Guerrero Jr. enters with a stat line for the season reading 172 hits for 23 home runs and 84 RBI, with a batting average of .292 as he looks to emulate his father by winning the family’s first ring.
