VJ Edgecome clears the air on his rivalry with Cooper Flagg: Do they really hate each other or is it an NBA attempt to regain viewership?

NBA promising rising star VJ Edgecombe has spoken up about rumors of a rivalry with fellow top player Cooper Flagg, giving his take on one of the most talked-about topics in basketball lately. The new Philadelphia 76ers player says there is no real fight going on, despite some wild clips and hard talks from their high school days.

On a recent Podcast P episode, Edgecombe tackled the feud buzz straight on, blaming not Flagg but the NBA’s media draw for stirring up stories to get viewers.

“We know at the end it’s all love between me and Coop. I stepped over him once and the cameraman dragged it more than it needed to. I understand-it’s for clicks,” Edgecombe said, referring to Cooper Flagg.

Real competition or manufactured drama?

Online clips show Edgecombe and Flagg going at it in high school games, with many thinking they really do not like each other. One clip shows Flagg shouting “Put his a- in jail!” after a good play, making fans talk more about how deep their rivalry goes.

But Edgecombe waved off those bits, saying they are just part of the game and exaggerated by media to get views.

“There’s a reason why viewership is going down. Back then, people didn’t like each other. Now everybody’s shaking each other’s hand,” he noted.

His words hint that the NBA and its assosiates might be using old-school fights to keep viewers in an unexpected changing sports scene.

Mutual respect and honest advice

Even with their tough play, Edgecombe made it clear he respects Flagg and even threw some fun advice his way: “Don’t flop. I know you’re gonna get the call, but don’t flop. It looks bad.” This comment got some laughs, showing they are more friends than foes.

Their relationship, it seems, is one of fierce competition and desire to achieve glory, but not animosity.

With NBA views going up and down, some think rivalries, real or made-up, are being used to get fans excited and involved with the show. Edgecombe’s comments show how players today are aware that they are part of the whole entertainment show.

Whether this “feud” becomes the next big rivalry or ends in superb respect, both Edgecombe and Flagg look set and prepared to be major names in the league’s future.

While fans may love the heat of a big rivalry, VJ Edgecombe made it clear: his challenge with Cooper Flagg is strong but not hateful. Whether the NBA is using their face-off to grab viewers remains a hot topic, but for now, both players focus on showing their skills.
