Anthony Joshua was involved in a fatal car accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two of his closest friends and most trusted team members, Sina Ghami and Kevin Latif Ayodele. The former heavyweight champion was a passenger in the vehicle and escaped with only minor physical injuries, but the crash has left him facing an overwhelming personal loss that goes far beyond the immediate aftermath of the incident.

As more visuals from the scene have surfaced, the gravity of what happened has become increasingly clear. A newly released video revealed the condition of the car Joshua was traveling in, showing extensive damage that underscores how narrowly he avoided a far more serious outcome. The crash claimed two lives, and the images have reframed the story from one of survival to one of heartbreaking proximity to tragedy.

Inches from disaster

The video shows that Joshua was just inches away from being completely crushed during the impact. The right side of the vehicle was left totally destroyed, while the left side-where Joshua was seated-remained comparatively intact. The contrast has led many to believe the outcome could have been far worse for the former champion, highlighting how fine the margins were between survival and catastrophe.

Although Joshua’s injuries were described as minor, the emotional toll has been profound. The loss of Ghami and Ayodele, both integral parts of his inner circle, has cast a long shadow over what could have easily been another headline entirely. As new angles and details continue to emerge, the footage serves as a sobering reminder that timing and position were the only things separating Joshua from sharing the same fate as his friends.

The impact explained

Adding further context, a diagram that went viral on X helped explain how the accident unfolded. The illustration showed the two passengers seated on the right side-Joshua’s friends-suffered the fatal impact, while Joshua and the driver survived. The collision force was concentrated heavily on the right side of the vehicle, aligning with the visible damage shown in the video.

The combination of video evidence and the diagram has given the public a clearer understanding of how the crash occurred, while also reinforcing just how close Joshua came to serious injury or worse. For fans and observers, it has transformed the incident from a tragic news item into a stark reminder of the unpredictability surrounding even the most routine moments.
