Victor Wembanyama is pleading with his fans for help. On Monday, the San Antonio Spurs star took to social media with a desperate plea: he needs help finding one of his best friends, who is missing.

Wemby, as his fans affectionately call him, is having a great run on the court. Not only are the Spurs second in the Western Conference with a 43-17 record, but his stats are like something out of a video game.

In 46 games this season, Wembanyama is averaging:

  • 29.2 minutes
  • 23.7 points
  • 50.1% shooting from the field
  • 11.2 rebounds
  • 2.9 assists

But while his professional life is going strong, the Spurs’ star center suffered a devastating personal blow with the disappearance of his friend Elijah Hoard.

What happened to Wembanyama’s friend?

Early Monday, Wembanyama took to his Instagram Stories with a plea: “Our friend Elijah has been missing from Chicago O’Hare since February 27th,” the player wrote.

Along with a video from ABC7Chicago describing the situation, Wembanyama asked his followers and the public, “If you have any information, please reach out to local authorities.”

Wembanyama then tagged several prominent Chicago athletes, including Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, and Connor Bedard. Police issued a missing person bulletin on Sunday after the family reported his disappearance.

According to the report, Hoard was wearing “a brown hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, and cream-colored shoes.” He was last seen at O’Hara Airport, authorities said.

Hoard didn’t want to return to France

In statements to local media, Antwon Hoard, Elijah’s father, explained that his son had been visiting Chicago for 10 days before his disappearance.

According to Antwon, everything seemed fine, but in the last two days, Elijah began behaving strangely.

He was really adamant about not going back home, and he didn’t want to go home.

He explained that Elijah never boarded the plane and speculated, “He could possibly be floating around the airport or something. But again, that’s the last we’ve seen of him.”

If anyone has information regarding the whereabouts of Elijah Hoard, please contact the Chicago Police Department.
