The organizers of the US Open have asked the media covering the tournament not to highlight any negative reaction that may occur towards President Donald Trump during the men’s final, which takes place on Sunday.
The president confirmed his presence at the final of the tournament, in which Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will face each other. It will be his first visit to the Artur Ashe Stadium in New York since 2015. Trump has been invited by a tournament sponsor and will watch the match from a corporate box.
However, he is expected to appear in the television coverage during the anthem ceremony before the final kicks off. Given the presence of the US president, additional security measures have been put in place ahead of Sunday’s final, which kicks off at at 2:00 p.m. local time in New York City.
