Ayrton Costa has been given the green light to play in the Club World Cup. On the third attempt by Boca Juniors to be able to count on the defender in the tournament, the United States finally ended up admitting the visa that allows the player to enter the North American country.

In the last few hours, alarm bells had gone off within the Argentine club’s camp, which was on the verge of losing its starting defender for the competition. Ayrton Costa will be joining the rest of his teammates in the coming hours and will be available for Boca Juniors’ debut against Benfica next Tuesday in Miami.

What prevented Costa from traveling?

From Argentina, it is reported that the immigration authorities in the United States had denied entry to Ayrton Costa in 2023, when the current Boca Juniors player was playing for Independiente.

Costa appears in two court cases that could be behind the US refusal to grant him a visa. A robbery in which he is listed as a friend of the perpetrators and a gender violence murder in which his brother is the main accused and Costa was singled out as an accessory.

None of the cases have progressed against him, but the US immigration service has so far not accepted his application for entry.
