Paige Bueckers has been making headlines as she recovers from her latest injury with the Dallas Wings as the UConn Huskies recently announced her involvement with the program.

Bueckers joined her alma mater to celebrate the 2024-25 national championship alongside teammates. The team received championship rings designed by herself, Caroline Ducharme, and Azzi Fudd.

It showcases her ongoing connection to UConn even as her professional career unfolds and the former Husky participated in practice in a special role, as her former team revealed details on social media.

“Tried out a new practice player today,” referring to Bueckers, who shared the post with the caption “My Boys” and a fingers-crossed emoji, signaling her appreciation.

Last season, UConn finished 37-3, going 18-0 in conference play. Bueckers led the team, averaging 19.9 points and 4.6 assists per game.

She earned the Wade Trophy, Honda Sports Award, Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year, and unanimous All-America recognition.

The UConn practice squad consists of undergraduate athletes who replicate opponents’ strategies during training. While they do not compete in official games, they maintain a 2.3 GPA and five years of NCAA eligibility, providing essential support for the varsity team.

Bueckers‘ presence energized the squad, which previously faced her as an opponent. “Welcome home, @paigebueckers,” the UConn practice team wrote.

Her return offered mentorship, motivation, and a chance for younger athletes to learn from one of the program’s most decorated players.

Bueckers stuns fans at Cowboys game

Bueckers demonstrated that her talents extend beyond basketball at a recent Dallas Cowboys game as the Wings star impressed fans with a precise deep pass, highlighting her skill in distribution beyond the basketball court.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft and reigning Rookie of the Year attended AT&T Stadium during the Cowboys‘ victory over the Washington Commanders on October 19.

Before the throw, she signed a football for fans and then the 24-year-old point guard delivered a perfect spiral to her target, demonstrating accuracy and mechanics reminiscent of her basketball distribution skills.

A video of the throw went viral, attracting praise from fans on social media as one user wrote, “That release is smoother than most backups in the league. Paige‘s mechanics are clean – footwork, torque, follow-through, all textbook.”

Another suggested, “Let Paige be the QB in the Olympics for USA Flag Football team.”

A third fan joked, “Jets and Dolphins on the phone right now,” highlighting the excitement over her athletic versatility. Bueckers‘ performance showcased her adaptability and skill across sports while she continues to recover from her injury.

As the Wings navigate coaching changes and roster adjustments, Bueckers‘ return to UConn practice and public displays of athleticism emphasize her leadership, commitment, and ability to inspire teammates both on and off the court.
