The Indiana Pacers delivered an impressive campaign last season, battling their way to the NBA Finals. However, as is often the case in high-stakes competition, things didn’t unfold as they had hoped. The Indianapolis squad ultimately fell to the Oklahoma City Thunder in a hard-fought seven-game series.

However, one of the biggest figures of the team, Tyrese Haliburton, went off the arena after suffering an injury in the last decisive game. The Pacers star suffered a rupture of his right Achilles tendon, one of the most difficult injuries for any athlete to overcome.

There is currently no clear timeline for Haliburton’s recovery; most people are talking about a prolonged one and with the uncertainty of his comeback. Even the president of the Franchise, Kevin Pritchard, has talked about the future of the 25-year-old base.

Achilles tear injuries cast a shadow over the 2025 Playoffs

The 2025 playoffs have been brutally competitive, not only due to the battles between teams but also because of the alarming number of players sidelined by Achilles injuries. This has raised concerns among medical staff across the league, with franchises looking to better prevent these types of injuries. in the league to try to prevent those wounds.

Damian Lillard, the star guard of the Milwaukee Bucks, was the first victim. He suffered the injury during the first round of the playoffs against the Indianapolis franchise. His absence dealt a major blow to the Bucks’ championship hopes and marked the beginning of a troubling injury trend across the league.

Then, the Boston Celtics ‘ Jayson Tatum suffered the same injury in the fourth game of the semi-final game of the East Conference against the New York Knicks. His injury affected the Boston team that was eliminated from the playoffs and fueled the growing concerns regarding the Achilles-related setbacks.

None of the injured players have a confirmed return date, and there is growing pessimism surrounding Haliburton’s recovery, who suffered the same injury in the NBA Finals in the last game against the Thunder.

The message of Kevin Pritchard about Haliburton’s future.

The news that comes from the Indiana Pacers about the health of Tyrese Haliburton isn’t at all encouraging. Today, the president of the Indianapolis franchise, Kevin Pitchard, talked with the media this morning, confirming that Tyrese is expected to miss the whole next season due to his Achilles’ tear.

With the confirmation of the president, Pritchard’s statement follows earlier remarks from the Pacers’ head coach, made after the conclusion of the seven-game series. He was optimistic about the return of his starting base. “I believe he’ll make a full recovery. He authored one of the great individual playoffs runs in the history of the NBA with dramatic play after dramatic play. It was something that no one had ever seen.”

The only certain thing is that the Indiana Pacers will miss the participation of Tyrese Haliburton, who was a key player in their success last year when they reached the final of the NBA. Haliburton delivered an outstanding season, averaging 18.6 points, 9.2 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game, playing a crucial role in the Pacers’ deep playoff run.
