Has the Cheetah changed his stripes? Just a few months ago, Tyreek Hill seemed set to leave the Miami Dolphins at any cost after a bitterly disappointing season. Now, the electrifying receiver is hinting that his future still lies in South Florida-at least for the time being.
There’s no doubt that Hill, nicknamed “Cheetah” for his blazing speed, would prefer to erase the 2024 season from memory. For the first time in his career, he missed the postseason, wasn’t selected to the Pro Bowl, and failed to surpass 1,000 receiving yards-something he’d accomplished every year since his sophomore season.
His frustration boiled over at the end of the Dolphins’ final game, when he declared, “I’m just opening that door myself. I’m opening the door. I’m out, bro.” But with time and reflection, Hill now says he’s ready to begin anew in Miami Gardens.
Rebuilding with the Dolphins
During a panel hosted by Keegan-Michael Key at Fanatics Fest, Hill shared, “I’m having the time of my life in Miami.” More importantly, he noted that his relationship with head coach Mike McDaniel has grown stronger after three years together, and they’re now aligned heading into 2025.
“Coach McDaniel is a little odd sometimes, but he’s great now. Me and him are going into year four,” Hill said, signaling the end of any past friction and his readiness for a new chapter with the Dolphins.
“We’ve got a good rapport. I love the guy to death-I look at him like an older brother,” Hill continued. “He does a great job with all of his players. He’s got the respect of the locker room. So don’t believe the narratives.”
A new culture in the making
After an underwhelming 8-9 season and a missed playoff berth, Hill believes the team is ready to reset its mindset. “This year, the Dolphins can change the culture, change who we are,” he said confidently.
He also pushed back on criticism that the team is soft or unable to perform in cold weather. “That’s the narrative right now, but I’m getting positive vibes from Miami,” he said.
