What was shaping up to be a fun, high-profile race between NFL sprinter Tyreek Hill and Olympic track star Noah Lyles took an unexpected turn this week when Lyles withdrew from the event. While fans were disappointed by the cancellation, the real drama began afterward when Hill addressed a harsh message to popular YouTuber iShowSpeed.

The social media personality had been actively promoting the event online. Now, the internet is abuzz with Tyreek Hill’s statements, iShowSpeed’s reaction, and what it all means for future mergers between various influencers and athletes.

How the Tyreek Hill vs. Noah Lyles race came to be

In recent weeks, a friendly rivalry had been brewing between Tyreek Hill, known as one of the fastest players in the NFL, and Noah Lyles, a world champion sprinter with Olympic credentials. The idea of pitting football speed against track speed was instantly appealing, especially with social media amplifying the buzz.

Content creators like IShowSpeed, known for his wild personality and viral sports content, helped stir public interest by promoting the race, participating in livestreams, and building anticipation for what could’ve been a historic sprint.

Tyreek Hill’s bold message to IShowSpeed

In a now-viral post on X (formerly Twitter), Tyreek Hill appeared to direct his frustration not just at the canceled race, but at IShowSpeed’s involvement in hyping it. Without naming names directly, Hill wrote: “Keep my name out of the clout chasers’ mouths. I race real athletes, not YouTubers tryna get views.”

The message was widely interpreted as a direct shot at Speed, who had been tagging Hill in multiple posts and videos leading up to the planned showdown. Hill’s use of the term “clout chasers” didn’t go unnoticed and instantly set off a wave of online reactions.

IShowSpeed responds with emotion and confusion

True to form, IShowSpeed reacted live to Hill’s post during a stream, looking visibly hurt and confused. He denied trying to gain clout off Hill’s name and insisted that he was simply excited to promote an event that fans genuinely wanted to see.

Speed also emphasized how much he respects both Hill and Lyles as elite athletes, stating:“I ain’t doing this for fame. I love sports, man. I thought it’d be fun for everyone. If I did too much, I’m sorry.” Many of Speed’s fans rallied behind him, pointing out that his excitement helped fuel the hype around the race in the first place.
