Tyreek Hill reacts to Mike McDaniel’s dismissal from the Dolphins and is clear about where he will not be heading next

Tyreek Hill has reacted publicly to the Miami Dolphins decision to fire their head coach, Mike McDaniel, offering a blunt response while also making it clear where his former coach should not expect to land next.

Miami Dolphins dismissed their boss after four seasons, following a disappointing 7-10 campaign – their worst record since 2019 as they finished third in the AFC East.

Trailing behind the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills, the team missed the NFL Playoffs despite a late resurgence, and that means Mike McDaniel becomes the sixth head coach fired since the regular season ended on January 4.

He is also the eighth dismissed overall during the 2025 NFL campaign, a move that came less than a year after signing a three-year extension.

Tyreek Hill, never one to shy away from commentary, responded shortly after news broke, posting on social media with a simple “Damn!”

Mike McDaniel exits Miami with a 35-35 record across four seasons and has already drawn interest as a potential offensive coordinator, including reported attention from the Detroit Lions.

After the new deal, the Dolphins lost six of their first seven games, prompting owner Stephen Ross to fire general manager Chris Grier midseason and put pressure on McDaniel.

With the year complete, Ross opted for what he called “comprehensive change,” ending the head coach’s tenure despite late-season momentum that briefly steadied the team.

“I love Mike,” Ross said. “And want to thank him for his hard work, commitment, and the energy he brought to our organisation.

“Mike is an incredibly creative football mind.”

Is John Harbaugh set to head to the Miami Dolphins?

Speculation has intensified around John Harbaugh, following his dismissal from Baltimore after 18 seasons and a narrow Week 18 loss that eliminated the Baltimore Ravens from playoff contention.

Despite sustained success, including a Super Bowl title and six division crowns, Baltimore‘s recent postseason frustrations ultimately led to the decision to move on.

“Well, I was hoping for a different kind of message on my last day here, someday, but that day has come today,” Harbaugh said. “It comes with disappointment certainly.”

ESPN reporter Jordan Raanan suggested Harbaugh‘s connection with Ross could fast-track a Miami reunion, citing longstanding family ties.

“If that relationship is what people say it is between Ross and the Harbaugh family, it’s a wrap,” Raanan reported, emphasizing how quickly talks could escalate.

Harbaugh‘s agent confirmed seven teams have already expressed interest in the veteran coach, with one team making contact despite having a coach at the time. That could have been the Dolphins.

Miami‘s expected pursuit of the Los Angeles Chargers‘ assistant general manager for their own GM spot at the Hard Rock Stadium may also attract Harbaugh.

Chad Alexander, who previously worked closely with him in Baltimore, further strengthens the potential fit as the Dolphins reset leadership across football operations.
