Tyreek Hill makes plea to Miami Dolphins ahead of 2025/26 NFL season

The Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is making it clear that he intends to remain a key contributor to the franchise’s future, despite sparking speculation about his status with the team following a frustrating season finale.

After a disappointing end to the 2024 NFL season, the 31-year-old made headlines when he insisted he was going to quit the Hard Rock Stadium following a 32-20 loss to the lowly New York Jets.

The team had finished with a losing record (8-9) and eliminated them from playoff contention and left Cheetah coldly declaring, “I’m out” as he announced plans to seek new pastures.

However, he later clarified that his outburst was an emotional reaction and now is trying to make it clear that he intends to remain a key contributor to the franchise’s future.

“Every day I’m trying to prove myself as one of those guys this team can depend on in crucial moments,” Hill told the South Florida Sun Sentinel. “It was tough. Emotions were high then.

“At the end of the day, I’m just looking to move forward from that. Hoping that I can prove myself and prove to my teammates that I’m still one of those ones.”

Hill’s physical transformation ahead of 2025/26

Hill‘s outburst was amplified by a season in which he battled a wrist injury and posted his lowest per-game numbers since his rookie year in 2016, and he has undergone offseason surgery to address the wrist issue.

Now he aims to be back to his best to reach the numbers he delivered in the 2023/24 NFL season, when he made 1799 receiving yards for 13 touchdowns on 119 receptions.

And in that quest, he’s even debuting a new body as he looks to give everything he’s got left to the Dolphins and to strike up his chemistry with their quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa.

Beyond his renewed mental approach, Hill has also committed to physical changes aimed at improving his performance as he reveals he has dropped nearly 15 pounds since the offseason began, reducing his weight from 197 to 183 pounds.

“It’s something I wanted to do,” Hill told reporters. “Having that endurance is important. I’m committed to eating right and training hard.”

Already short at 5-foot-10, he has never been known for his dominating physical frame. But he is absolutely rapid and has a reputation for his speed, explosiveness, and ability to break away from defenders.

The dramatic weight loss suggests he is prioritizing endurance and agility to extend his productivity as he enters the later stages of his career, testing out his new look at the Dolphins‘ organized team activities (OTA) camp.

Will he back to his best? Find out when the Dolphins take on the Indianapolis Colts on Friday, September 6 in their opening game of the 2025/26 NFL season.
