Tyreek Hill just got a promotion nobody understands

There’s something soul-sucking about being a Dolphins fan right now.

It’s not just the losing or the playoff teases that turn into implosions. It’s the sense that nobody in the building knows what they’re doing anymore. The offseason should bring clarity, maybe even a little hope. But in Miami? It’s mostly confusion-and now, outrage.

At Tuesday’s pre-draft press conference, Dolphins GM Chris Grier named Tyreek Hill as one of the team’s core leaders. That’s not a typo. The same Tyreek Hill who was recently involved in yet another off-the-field situation, this time a domestic dispute that led to police involvement, as reported by the Miami Herald.

Hill as the locker room voice? That’s the plan?

Hill has been under the microscope for years. From his college controversies to the more recent accusations and public behavior, he’s a player known as much for headlines as highlights. But somehow, Grier believes he’s the guy to help steer a franchise in full identity crisis.

Fans aren’t buying it. Social media exploded almost immediately after Grier’s comments went live. “Hill quit on the team in Week 18,” one fan tweeted.“That’s the guy you’re calling a leader?”

And what about the actual leaders? Terron Armstead has retired. Calais Campbell chose Arizona over Miami. Jalen Ramsey, the team’s top cornerback, has reportedly asked out, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. It feels like all the adults left the room-and Grier handed the keys to the guy who can’t seem to stay out of trouble.

Even ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith didn’t hold back: “When your best leadership option is Tyreek Hill, something’s gone very wrong inside that organization.”

The Dolphins aren’t just trending in the wrong direction-they’re accelerating. And Grier, who’s been at the wheel for too long, is now making decisions that feel less like strategy and more like desperation.

If Tyreek Hill is the face of the next era of Dolphins football, fans are right to be worried. And more than a little tired.
