Tyreek Hill hints at potential return to Kansas City Chiefs – Fans speculate reunion

A clip of Tyreek Hill discussing the profound impact Eric Bieniemy had on his early NFL development has resurfaced as the franchise moves toward rehiring the veteran coach amid a broader offensive overhaul.

The video, originally recorded years ago, shows Hill reflecting on his formative years in Kansas City and now intersects with chatter about coaching changes and his potential future, not just in Miami, but possibly back in Chiefs Kingdom.

Hill, who was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2016 and became one of the NFL’s premier wide receivers, spoke candidly about Bieniemy‘s influence when the two were together.

“When I first got in the league, I was a running back, and E.B coached running backs,” Hill said.

“So he made me understand who I was as a player. And to him, it’s bigger than football, like playing football is part of the blessing, but outside of football, who you are as a person, how you carry yourself every day as a person, that’s the message he was delivering to me.”

That sentiment has taken on fresh relevance as the Chiefs pursue Bieniemy as their next offensive coordinator, hoping to recapture the offensive spark that defined their dynasty years.

The Chiefs have reportedly requested an interview with Bieniemy and are expected to finalize the hire after his 2025 season with the Chicago Bears wraps up.

Bieniemy‘s reemergence in Kansas City comes after an uneven three-year stretch away from the franchise.

After helping the Chiefs to consistent playoff runs and two Super Bowl titles from 2018 through 2022, Bieniemy left for the Washington Commanders in 2023, then spent 2024 at UCLA, and spent 2025 with the Bears as a running backs coach.

Hill‘s old praise aligns with testimonials from other Chiefs stars, including tight end Travis Kelce, who previously credited Bieniemy with accelerating his growth as a player and mentor.

The Chiefs‘ offensive staff is in flux after a disappointing 2025 campaign that saw Kansas City miss the playoffs for the first time in over a decade and offensive coordinator Matt Nagy‘s contract expire.

Bieniemy‘s return and the current Chiefs landscape

Bieniemy‘s expected return is part of a sweeping reshuffle that includes other coaching hires, such as Chad O’Shea as wide receivers coach, signaling head coach Andy Reid‘s willingness to reinvest in experienced NFL minds to right the offense.

The backdrop to all this is Hill‘s uncertain future. After six standout seasons with Kansas City, Hill was traded to the Miami Dolphins in 2022, a blockbuster deal that reshaped both franchises.

In Miami, Hill signed a lucrative extension and posted strong numbers initially, but has faced injuries and inconsistency in recent seasons.

As trade speculation around him has periodically surfaced, his old comments about “home” in social media interactions have kept fans and analysts guessing.
