Patrick Mahomes has played with a fair share of pass-catchers throughout his NFL career, but there’s no denying which one he’s had the most chemistry with. Travis Kelce and Mahomes have formed an incredible duo that has brought the Kansas City Chiefs three Super Bowl rings. But when it comes to purely the wide receiver position, Mahomes hasn’t exactly had elite players there. Except for Tyreek Hill.
In Hill’s five seasons alongside Mahomes, they connected for 4,638 yards and 42 touchdowns on 331 receptions. Hill’s physics-defying speed paired perfectly with Mahomes’ big arm and out-of-pocket ability. Hill chose to leave the Chiefs for the Miami Dolphins in 2022, and Kansas City has won two Super Bowls since then. While Hill doesn’t hold a grudge against Mahomes and the Chiefs, he did take a fun little shot at the quarterback on Friday.

Hill was going through media obligations throughout the day and appeared on the Up & Adams Show, where he spoke about his future with the Dolphins and about his former team. He was asked to break down what makes Mahomes so great, and he hilariously had to mention that he has a “weird shaped body“.
He has a weird shaped body. So when you look at him, you’re like, ‘it’s very easy to sack this guy’. He has a dad body. So when you look at him, you’re like, ‘he can’t be that fast’. But when you see him getting on the outside of these defenses and just outrunning people, it’s like, ‘how is he doing that?’ So he’s different. I don’t know, it’s hard to explain.
Mahomes seems to surprise just about every player who steps on the field with him with his “deceptive” athleticism. Hill isn’t the first player to mention that Mahomes doesn’t play like it looks like he’s supposed to.
That has been a major factor in Mahomes taking advantages of defenses. Particularly in the postseason, Mahomes seems to be able to scramble more and take defenses by surprise. It’s been a big reason the Chiefs offense has had so much success in recent years.
