Tyreek Hill “attacks” Patrick Mahomes with a response that angers Chiefs fans… and Dolphins fans

Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill is no stranger to bold statements – but his latest remarks have fans of both the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins left shaking their heads. Hill recently took a swipe at former teammate Patrick Mahomes while also referencing Tua Tagovailoa in a manner many called sarcastic and controversial on social media.

The comments came as part of a lighthearted but provocative message Hill shared online, where he named an ex-Chiefs quarterback – not Mahomes – as the “best,” drawing immediate reactions from fans and rival supporters. Though the remarks were tongue-in-cheek, some interpreted them as a deliberate jab at Mahomes, one of the most decorated quarterbacks in the NFL today.

“Who do I think is the best quarterback? Okay. That I played with, or just the best quarterback?” Hill said.

“I probably played with was probably Matt Moore. Yeah. Put that on your, put that on your fucking Twitter. How about that? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Y’all, y’all be one the obvious answers. I ain’t gonna give you what you want. Matt Moore, Chad Henne”

Hill’s cryptic tone resonated widely, leading to heated discussions among supporters of both franchises. Chiefs fans were quick to defend Mahomes’ legacy, citing his Super Bowl victories and MVP honors, while Dolphins followers debated Hill’s loyalty and role with his current team.

The debate over Mahomes vs. Tagovailoa accuracy

Part of the uproar stems from a similar comparison Hill made earlier in his podcast It Needed To Be Said, when he suggested that he believed Tagovailoa was a more accurate passer than Mahomes – a statement that sparked controversy in its own right. Hill acknowledged that Mahomes has “the strongest arm,” but said:

“In terms of accuracy-wise, I’m going with Tua all day.”

That remark led to intense fan reactions and even threats, according to Hill, who said he received death threats on social media after the podcast episode aired.

Hill’s latest critique, framed as sarcasm, adds to a history of provocative comments that have followed him since his blockbuster trade from the Chiefs to the Dolphins. While Mahomes has been lauded for his on-field excellence and leadership in Kansas City, Hill’s statements appear aimed at building confidence around Tagovailoa and his Miami offense.

Hill continues to be a controversial figure

Fans were sharply divided over the message. Some praised Hill’s loyalty to his current club, while others accused him of overstepping by publicly downplaying Mahomes’ achievements. One social media user commented, “Hill’s trying to stir the pot again, it’s going to blow up in his face,” encapsulating the mixed reaction online.

Despite the backlash, Hill has not walked back his comments, staying active on platforms with cryptic messages and letting reactions build momentum. Whether the remarks were meant to be serious or tongue-in-cheek, they have undeniably sparked one of the more heated quarterback debates of the NFL offseason.

One thing remains clear: in the modern NFL, anything a star player says, whether on a podcast, social media, or in jest, can quickly become a flashpoint for fans across the league.
