Tyler Marsh, Sky coach, is unhappy with the loss to Fever and questions the WNBA and refereeing

Chicago Sky suffered its second consecutive defeat after Indiana Fever won 92-70 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. This latest defeat brings the team’s record to 8-23 and is its tenth in 11 games.

As if that weren’t enough, fans were unable to see the stars of both teams in action, as they were unable to take the court due to injury.

Caitlin Clark has missed 10 games due to a groin strain, while Angel Reese remains sidelined with a persistent back injury that has kept her out of action for five games.

Marsh takes aim at refereeing

During the game, Sky was unable to recover from the initial 25-16 deficit in the first quarter and added another loss to its record, with a 38.4% field goal percentage. However, the Chicago coach felt that there was another factor that hurt his team.

After the game, Tyler Marsh said that during these games, Sky has not received as many fouls or free throw attempts this season.

“For a team that shoots at the rim as much as we do, for a player to shoot at the rim as much as Kamilla (Cardoso) does and to continuously go game after game without getting to the line – I think Mil is 28th, 29th in the league in free throw attempts,” Marsh said. “I think as a team we’re second in rim attempts and 11th in free throw attempts. The numbers don’t correlate.“

The truth is that Chicago ranks 12th out of 13 in free throws per game and in its last three games, it has combined for 21 of them in total.

Meanwhile, Camilla, who did not get to the free throw line against Indiana, averages 3.1 per game. Despite her average of 12.6 points and 8.2 rebounds, she added 6 points, 3 assists, and 12 rebounds in 20 minutes of play against the Fever.

However, Tyler also analyzed and criticized his team’s performance. Indiana shot 47.1% from the field and 39.3% from three-point range, with 11 three-pointers. According to him, Chicago‘s focus was on the ball: “We all watched a little bit too much,” Marsh said, via Sky beat reporter Karli Bell.

“We don’t really have a team that’s able to pressure the ball on the perimeter like that. We want to be more containment. We weren’t able to turn them over much today,” said Tyler.

Now, Marsh and her team must prepare to visit the Connecticut Sun (5-24), the last-place team in the WNBA standings, on Wednesday at Mohegan Sun Arena and try to secure another important victory.
