Tyler Marsh ‘forgets’ Angel Reese’s controversial comments and paves the way for her to stay with the Chicago Sky

Angel Reese‘s second WNBA season has unfolded with equal parts dominance and drama.

The 23-year-old forward has emerged as the league’s most relentless rebounder and one of its most consistent double-double producers, yet she has also courted controversy with public comments about the Chicago Sky‘s shortcomings.

That tension has highlighted not only the promise of her young career but also the difficult crossroads facing both player and franchise.

Reese made headlines when she told the Chicago Tribune that she expected the Sky to raise their standards in roster construction.

“We have to get good players. We have to get great players. That’s a non-negotiable for me,” she said.

While she made clear her preference to spend her career in Chicago, she stopped short of making guarantees, adding that her long-term loyalty depends on whether the team can surround her with the kind of talent needed to contend.

Marsh sees a rising star with limitless potential

Even with the controversy, head coach Tyler Marsh has been effusive in his praise of Reese. Speaking with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, Marsh did not shy away from comparing her to one of the NBA’s greats.

“I’m familiar with James Worthy, but I’m more familiar with Angel,” Marsh said, according to Robinson.

“I think that there’s a lot of players that possess that type of versatility and I think that’s that word that it always comes back to Angel because there’s so much more room for growth and there’s so much progression that she’s shown from Year 1 to Year 2 and so, I think that what she’s able to do now and what she’s continuing to be able to do in this league, she’s going to be one of the top players in this league for years to come. I think she’s realizing all the other aspects of her game in real time to be effective, and she’s showing it night in and night out.”

The numbers back his assessment. Reese has raised her scoring to 14.7 points per game, nearly doubled her assists at 3.7 per night, and added 1.5 steals.

Her shooting percentages have climbed to career highs, connecting on 45.8 percent of her field goals and 75.6 percent from the line.
