Tyler Marsh doesn’t hide his opinion after “Barbie Game Day” could be without Chicago Sky star, Angel Reese

A few years ago, the WNBA didn’t have names as well known as Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever or Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky are today. And when the two face off, no fan wants to miss the game.

On Sunday, July 27, both teams will take to the court, and this matchup at the United Center will be unlike any other.

Barbie takes the court. And Reese?

Mattel, the company that created Barbie, will collaborate with Chicago Sky to celebrate the second annual Barbie Game Day.

And who has been named “Barbie“? Of course, Sky star Angel Reese. Although they don’t have a contract with the 23-year-old forward, she was already called “Barbie Bayou” during her time at LSU. After Chicago selected her in last year’s draft, she became known as “Barbie Chi-Town.”

The team even announced Barbie Game Day against Indiana with a photo of Reese and the sale of her pink jersey.

However, even with Barbie on the court, there is no certainty that she will play. Reese’s back injury could be a reason for her to sit out this game as well. Angel had to watch from the bench as her team fell 95-57 to the Seattle Storm, and her return is not confirmed.

What does her coach think?

This possible absence was discussed with the team’s head coach, Tyler Marsh, who was decisive: “I think availability is the most important thing,” he said on Saturday.

However, Tyler also did not hide his delight at the news that Reese will be honored:

I think the cool thing about it is you can still shine a light on the personality that Angel is, the person, the human that Angel is, whether she’s in a uniform or not. You can still show that appreciation for who she is, what she’s done, and what she represents.

And although he knows that watching her play is a real spectacle and would be the ideal setting for Barbie Game Day, Marsh knows that the forward’s mere presence is enough:

Anytime that you’re able to see her play in action is obviously a treat, but at the same time, being able to be in the building to hopefully be entertained by a Chicago Sky game and still get the chance to represent Angel.

Without a doubt, whether she’s on the court or not, the WNBA’s Barbie will be the center of attention.
