Tyler Glasnow raises his hand to play for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic

The United States national team already has Aaron Judge secured as its captain for the 2026 World Baseball Classic, after being confirmed on Monday by manager Mark DeRosa, and now there are several players who are interested in representing their country, one of them is the Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher, Tyler Glasnow.

During a recent appearance on the Foul Territory podcast, Glasnow confessed his desire to join the starting rotation in a dream he said is “extremely big” to be with Team USA in the WBC.

“I’d love to do it, but it’s one of those things that’s happened to me every year, so it’s not a very good idea,” Glasnow told Foul Territory, although he added with reservation: “I have my obligations and responsibilities with the Dodgers.”

Glasnow is an injury-prone player, even undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2021, and last season he was sidelined from September with a right elbow sprain that kept him out of the playoffs in which the Dodgers were crowned champions.

“I guess when it comes time to say yes or no, I’ll have to reconsider. My main goal is just to stay healthy,” said Glasnow, who is a talented pitcher with a career ERA in the Major Leagues of .383

Aaron Judge accepts the challenge of being captain

During his appointment as captain of the United States for the World Baseball Classic, Aaron Judge said he will be playing for more than just himself and his teammates.

“It’s something special to have the opportunity to represent our country,” said the Yankees star after the announcement of manager Mark DeRosa and added, “Just thinking about all the brave men and women who have fought for this country and given their lives for us to have the opportunity to come out here, and especially for me, to have the opportunity to play a game, it’s an experience that humbles me.”

DeRosa announced Judge four days after being named manager of United States for the second consecutive World Baseball Classic.

“I had a chance before I got too old and Mark didn’t want me anymore,” Judge said alongside DeRosa at a press conference at Yankee Stadium.
