Former NFL star and current analyst Steve Smith Sr. is at the center of controversy after allegations surfaced online accusing him of an affair.
The claims were made by Twitter user Tony Martinez (@Lambeaughini), who alleged that Smith had been involved in a relationship with his wife, a reported member of the Baltimore Ravens‘ marching band, the Marching Ravens.
The now-deleted posts included explicit text message screenshots allegedly exchanged between Smith and Martinez‘s wife.
A video was also shared, in which a man-claimed to be Smith-is confronted in a phone call.
“What do you have to say for yourself?” asked the caller.
Upon being asked this question, the voice on the other end (implied to be Steve Smith Sr.) responded in a concise manner.
“Sorry,” he is heard saying before hanging up.
Silence surrounds the allegation as Twitter account is closed
Smith, 45, has yet to comment on the situation, and the Twitter account that originally posted the accusations has been deleted.
This leaves the allegations in a cloud of uncertainty, with no direct response from Smith or his representatives, and it is fair to assume that this could well be a legal matter in the future, no matter which side is telling the truth.
Smith, if there is no truth to these allegations, could rightly feel unfairly maligned and launch a defamation lawsuit.
However, there is also the possibility that people will then look to see if there was a crossover between Smith’s employment with the Baltimore Ravens and the alleged affair starting.
Married to his wife, Angie, since 2000, Smith is also a father of four. As speculation spreads, many are waiting to see if he will address the claims or remain silent amid the swirling controversy.
