Turki Alalshikh asks for help to find Canelo Alvarez’s next opponent: Crawford, Benavidez, Bivol or Sheeraz?

Saul Alvarez’s schedule for 2025 is beginning to take shape after he is set to make the first of his four fights agreed with His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, against Cuban William Scull in Saudi Arabia on May 3. What follows will be to choose the next opponent for Canelo, who likes to have fights in September.

After the cancellation of the fight against Terence Crawford, it could still be reactivated as an option for the Mexican, after the Arab sheikh Turki Alalshikh conducted a survey on his X account, to ask his followers for help on who should be Canelo’s opponent and ‘Bud’ appears in the list.

“Canelo vs _____ Who should the lion fight next? Vote below and respond with your dream matchup!” wrote Alalshikh alongside an image of the Mexican boxer, while in his next tweet, he put the list for fans to help him decide between these four options:

  • Terence Crawford
  • David Benavidez
  • Dmitry Bivol
  • Hamzah Sheeraz

Fans choose David Benavidez as Canelo’s opponent

The survey left no doubt about what fans want to see next for Canelo Alvarez and, although it seemed that the fight against Terence Crawford could take place, the winner of the survey was David Benavidez

With two days to go until the poll closes, with just over 4,000 participants as of Sunday, the ‘Mexican Monster’ has 61.9% of the vote, followed by Terence Crawford with 25.8%, while a possible rematch against Dmitry Bivol is far behind with 7.7% and, for now, few are interested in seeing him face Hamzah Sheeraz with 4.6%.

Some mentioned in the comments Jake Paul, but the voice of the fans cries out for him to finally face David Benavidez, who has his sights set on facing the winner of the rematch between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol, but if he is put in front of Canelo he would not hesitate to change his plans.
