Travis Kelce is currently playing his 13th NFL season, all of them with the Kansas City Chiefs. Over the years, he has become one of the league’s most valuable players and a consistent winner alongside his teammates.
His strong college education helped him realize that football isn’t everything-there’s life beyond the gridiron. The Chiefs’ tight end has wisely diversified his earnings from his years in the NFL, turning them into a growing business empire.
One of his most notable ventures is the restaurant he co-owns with quarterback Patrick Mahomes, named 1587 after their jersey numbers.
Travis Kelce’s expanding business portfolio
Alongside his brother Jason, Kelce hosts the popular podcast New Heights, which has become a massive success. The show’s popularity has brought in multi-million-dollar sponsorship deals that continue to boost his income well beyond the field.
He’s also the majority owner of Garage Beer, a company based in Ohio that has expanded its market presence in recent years.
[It’s] just another thing that we want to bring to Kansas City, to be able to show our appreciation for the city, knowing how much they love their food and how much they love their football.
Kelce said in an interview in April 2024.
Recently, Mia Mercado of The Cut by New York wrote a review about Kelce and Mahomes’s restaurant that quickly drew attention.
In its headline, the article noted that the author’s $241 bill at 1587 Prime was higher than her electricity bill. Mercado added that she was intimidated by the $33 Wagyu carpaccio but described her $59 petite filet-the cheapest steak option on the menu-as “among the best-prepared steaks I’ve eaten.
While the review was far from negative, social media users reacted strongly, debating whether the restaurant’s prices were too high. Some argued that paying $31 for fries and ketchup was excessive.
Those prices are cheaper than Ruth’s Chris! Let the man have a nice steakhouse! Damn.
This is 100% normally-priced for a nice steakhouse in a big city in 2025. I’m so confused by this review.
Wagyu for $65 I’m in! This place looks awesome and it’s not overpriced for a steakhouse at all.
He’s not allowed to buy a restaurant? You don’t have to go.
This is actually well-priced for a steak dinner, for two… matter of fact, very well-priced.
801 Chophouse is my favorite in Kansas City and I think for my husband and myself our tab came to a little over $300. Sounds like this wasn’t a bad deal for high-end dining.
Although opinions vary, the best way to judge Kelce’s restaurant might be to visit it in person and draw your own conclusions.
