The leadup to the NFL preseason is in full swing for every team now. The Kansas City Chiefs hit a benchmark on Tuesday, as their mandatory minicamp got underway following a lengthy offseason which featured a lot of sulking following their Super Bowl LIX loss.

A lot has happened since then, including tons of roster moves and Travis Kelce making the decision to come back to the team for at least one more season. That decision was very welcome news for the Chiefs. They have one of their team captains back, and they’re getting him back motivated and in shape. That was made clear on the first day of minicamp.

What stood out to many fans was Kelce’s physical appearance. The reports of Kelce slimming down appear to be true, as he looks to be at a lower weight than what he was playing at in 2024.

In addition, some fans noted that Kelce looks lighter on his feet. Particularly, his knees look fresh for a 35-year-old with plenty of tread on his tires.

Of course, Kelce will look at his best on the first day of minicamp. The key will be how he will fare after a full season of football. But for now, it seems like his body is in a good place.

He has said that he feels much better physically than he did last season. Not only towards the end of the season, but he feels much fresher at this point of the offseason than he did at the same point last year. That’s crucial in what could potentially be his final NFL season.
