Travis Kelce moves on from Super Bowl loss and ignites Chiefs’ motivation for 2025

Travis Kelce has made it clear: the Kansas City Chiefs’ loss in Super Bowl LIX to the Philadelphia Eagles is already in the past. Speaking at a press conference after Wednesday’s practice, the Chiefs icon didn’t mince words:

“I threw that thing in the trash. I’ve moved on,” he said of the painful defeat that kept the Chiefs from repeating as champions.

Now 35 – he’ll turn 36 in October – Kelce enters his 13th NFL season with a renewed mindset. “What is this, my 13th year already?” he joked to reporters, showing both his veteran presence and undiminished energy. The tight end emphasized that the key to staying competitive is resetting the mindset year after year, especially when the goal is to return to the Super Bowl.

A new-look Travis Kelce turns heads at camp

Unlike last summer, when he traveled through Europe with Taylor Swift during her Eras Tour, this time Kelce has committed fully to his physical preparation. Though he didn’t disclose how much weight he lost, the physical transformation has been clear to his teammates and coaches.

“He’s lean, looks like he’s 20 years old,” joked head coach Andy Reid. “He’s in great shape. You can tell he’s been training hard. He was among the top guys in all the conditioning drills.”

Kelce has been a model of consistency in camp, not missing a single practice while continuing to make acrobatic catches during team and 7-on-7 drills. Despite the natural wear and tear that comes with his age, he’s still out there running routes for Patrick Mahomes like a rookie fighting for a roster spot.

Kelce locked in on training

Now settled back into the dorms at Missouri Western State University, Kelce says the training camp environment helps him disconnect from the outside noise and refocus on what he loves most.

“I love being here. It takes me away from everything going on in this crazy world. It lets me focus on getting better and being better for my teammates,” he said passionately.

Kelce made it clear that his motivation hasn’t faded: to lead the Chiefs back to the Super Bowl. With leadership, a renewed physique, and a hunger for redemption, the future Hall of Famer is ready to write a new chapter in his legendary career.
