Recently, Travis Kelce made headlines after getting engaged to his world-famous girlfriend, singer Taylor Swift. The day the couple announced their commitment, the internet nearly collapsed, flooding social media with reactions and emotions. Now that the frenzy has subsided, it seems Kelce still wants to stay in the public eye.
News out of Cleveland confirmed that Shedeur Sanders would remain with the team following Kenny Pickett’s departure to the Las Vegas Raiders. That exit created a massive opening for Deion Sanders’ son to stay on as the team’s third quarterback.
Shedeur’s performance in his preseason debut further strengthened his case. To be fair, Pickett’s departure removed a major dilemma for the Browns’ coaching staff, sparing them the tough choice of which quarterback would have to be cut.
For now, the Kansas City tight end remains focused on delivering a strong performance in what will be his final NFL season. His goal is crystal clear: reach another Super Bowl and ride off into retirement in fairy-tale fashion, hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy once again.
The request Travis makes to Kevin Stefanski
In the latest edition of New Heights, the podcast he co-hosts with his brother, Kelce issued a direct request to Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski. His plea was simple: give rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders the chance to become the team’s starter.
Give the people what they want, in terms of the Browns fans… Start Shedeur. Give the people what they want. The world wants to see him go out there, and not only play, but have success. At this point, guys are rooting for him. This isn’t anything against Dillon. This isn’t anything against Joe. I’m just saying the excitement is there for [Sanders] to go out there. He’s going to put eyes on the screen. He’s going to bring people to the game.
Kelce said.
Kelce may have a point. Sanders’ presence would draw enormous attention and media coverage, placing the Browns in the national spotlight. That publicity could even serve as added motivation for the team to deliver in the 2025 season.
Kelce is, of course, widely respected for his career accomplishments. Still, his words may not resonate in Cleveland or receive much weight from decision-makers.
As of now, the Browns’ starting quarterback is set: 40-year-old veteran Joe Flacco. Behind him, Stefanski has chosen Dillon Gabriel as the backup, ready to step in if Flacco falters. Only in the event of further necessity would Shedeur Sanders take the field as the team’s third option.
For the youngest son of “Coach Prime,” the toughest part is already behind him: securing a roster spot for the upcoming season. From here, he must remain patient. If not with Cleveland, another franchise -already aware of his potential- may soon come calling.
