Travis Kelce may have just played his final NFL season, but Hollywood is already calling! According to award-winning producer Paul Scanlan, the Kansas City Chiefs star has a bright future in movies and television if he chooses to retire from football.
With speculation swirling about Kelce’s potential retirement after the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIX loss to the Eagles, the 35-year-old tight end is weighing the toll of 12 grueling seasons in the NFL. While he hasn’t officially made a decision, he has admitted that the physical and mental demands of the game are pushing him to consider stepping away.
However, if he does trade his helmet for a script, Scanlan believes Kelce will have no trouble making it big in the entertainment world. “100 percent,” Scanlan told People when asked if Kelce has a future in Hollywood. “He’s such a likable guy, and he’s a good actor. He’s proven himself in good material, and he’s a great producer.”
Travis has impressed with his acting skills
Kelce has already dipped his toes into Hollywood, impressing on screen in FX’s horror series Grotesquerie and as the host of Prime Video’s Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity? He’s also set to appear in the upcoming sequel to Happy Gilmore and made his debut as an executive producer on the new comedy-drama My Dead Friend Zoe.
Beyond acting, Scanlan says Kelce is drawn to “purposeful projects” that make a difference, and his involvement in My Dead Friend Zoe has helped elevate the film’s reach. “He’s really good at generating attention for a worthy project. He’s a giving person-very Midwestern that way,” Scanlan added.
Kelce’s profile has skyrocketed in the past year thanks to his high-profile romance with Taylor Swift, but even before their relationship, he was making waves in entertainment. He hosted Saturday Night Live in 2023, showcasing his comedic chops and natural charisma.
Kelce remains at the crossroads
Now, with retirement looming, Kelce faces a major career crossroads-will he return for another season with the Chiefs, or is he ready to go all-in on Hollywood?
“I think I’m gonna take some time to figure it out,” he said after the Super Bowl loss. “If I do come back, it’s gonna be a wholehearted decision. I’m not gonna half*ssing it.”
