Travis Kelce could be set up in a well-intentioned trap by Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are on a mission to show the NFL and the world that they are not ready to give up the throne as the best team in the league.

The back-to-back champions from 2023 to 2024 got blown out by Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and the Philadelphia Eagles on Super Bowl LIX, in a game that was almost a complete embarrassment for the Chiefs.

According to Sharp Football Analysis, Kansas City has the sixth easiest schedule during the 2025 regular season, just behind the Minnesota Vikings, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Detroit Lions, the Cleveland Browns, and the New York Giants. Las Vegas has them winning a total of 12 games, which is good enough to make the playoffs next year.

Travis Kelce could be set up in a well-intentioned trap

Patrick Mahomes wants to rent out an entire theater so the Kansas City Chiefs can watch “Happy Gilmore 2,” the upcoming comedy starring none other than iconic tight end Travis Kelce. The movie comes out exclusively on Netflix July 25th.

While it sounds like a sweet gesture, some fans think it’s a well-intentioned trap. Imagine being surrounded by your teammates while they watch and react to your acting debut on a giant screen. Now talk about being put on the spotlight.

Kelce has taken bold steps off the field with his first big movie role. But if Mahomes pulls this off, the locker room jokes might come faster than any blitz. It will all be in good spirits, though, as Patrick has been a great teammate for Travis and the rest of the Chiefs.

Mahomes continues to be the leader of the Chiefs

The 29-year-old Patrick Mahomes has led the Kansas City Chiefs to the most regular-season (90) and playoff (17) wins of any team since 2018. His 17 career postseason victories trail only the legendary Tom Brady among quarterbacks in NFL history.

Additionally, Mahomes – who already has two NFL MVP and three Super Bowl MVP awards under his belt – also owns the league marks for touchdown passes (245) and passing yards (32,352) through 112 career regular-season games in NFL history.

Mahomes is undeniably on track to end his career as one of the greatest players the game has ever seen, and despite his immense resume, the best may still be yet to come. Behind Patrick, the Chiefs currently have three quarterbacks under contract who will compete for an opportunity to make the regular-season roster.
