Travis Kelce challenges Chiefs rookies to prove their worth as he shares high hopes for historic Super Bowl run

Travis Kelce has been a cornerstone of the Kansas City Chiefs since being selected by head coach Andy Reid with the 63rd overall pick in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. In his 12-year career, Kelce has transformed the tight end position, amassing over 11,000 receiving yards, 69 touchdowns, nine Pro Bowl selections, four All-Pro honors and three Super Bowl rings-though he’s also endured two losses on the big stage. A master of talent identification, Reid also drafted Kelce’s brother, Jason, with the Eagles in 2011, setting both on the path to greatness.

Now, as the 2025 NFL Draft wraps up, Kelce could be entering his final season, and he’s already excited about the new talent joining the Chiefs. Joining Jason on his popular New Heights podcast, Kelce opened up about his thoughts on the team’s recent draft picks, offering a glimpse into what the Chiefs Kingdom can expect.

Kelce Breaks Down the Draft Haul

On the latest episode of New Heights, Kelce didn’t hold back his enthusiasm for the Chiefs’ 2025 draft class, which brought in seven new players. “I love what we did in the draft,” he said, highlighting how the team addressed key needs. “We lost some guys on the defensive line, filled those roles. Got a big ol’ tackle to protect Pat and move some bodies in the run game. And then on top of that, just added pieces left and right in the secondary and on the offensive weapons side.” He concluded on an optimistic note: “I’m pumped, man.

I’m pumped to get these guys in the building, and who knows what else Veach is cooking up with all the undrafted free agents that we’re going to see in rookie minicamp next week.” Kelce’s excitement reflects the Chiefs’ knack for drafting and developing talent, a formula that’s kept them among the NFL’s elite for years.
