Travis Kelce calls out Chiefs’ mindset as frustrations boil over: Kick that sh** aside

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has made a blunt, urgent plea to his team as they navigate a rough patch this season: forget personal agendas and come together.

With the Chiefs currently sitting at 5-5, Kelce expressed on his New Heights podcast that the season’s potential collapse is “self-inflicted” and that his teammates must “look themselves in the mirror.”

Kelce didn’t hide his frustration with the state of affairs. “It’s gotten to the point where … we’ve basically got to run the table,” he said, emphasizing the urgency as the team heads into a difficult stretch with only seven games left.

He rejected finger-pointing or excuses – instead urging accountability. “Whatever you go into mentally when you’re frustrated … you gotta kick that s-t aside … it’s just gotta be about this team, the guy next to you … and you gotta have fun doing it.”

The tight end also pointed to penalties and execution issues as key problems. Procedural or holding penalties, he argued, have disrupted rhythm. “There are games that I don’t think we had any business losing. We got to find a way to clean all that up, man,” he said.

Kelce sees answers in film and effort

Kelce believes the solutions to Kansas City‘s woes are within reach. He emphasized that the roster and coaching staff are more than capable – “we’ve got the guys that we need” – but they must elevate their accountability and execution.

As one of the longest-tenured leaders in the locker room, Kelce‘s words carry weight. The 36-year-old veteran is clearly calling for a reset: less self-focus, more team-first mindset. With his leadership under the microscope, the Chiefs now must respond on the field.
