With just a few days left in the NFL season before Super Bowl LIX between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, one of the biggest questions – aside from who will win the Super Bowl – is what will happen to Travis Kelce after the season ends. Kelce is still under contract for next season, which makes me think the retirement rumors will continue until at least 2026. Even if the Chiefs and Kelce secure the first three-peat in NFL history, I’m sure he still believes he can compete at the highest level. However, I have no doubt that this question will be on his mind for quite some time during the offseason, next to Taylor Swift.
Kelce Boldly Responds on Live TV
Personally, if I were in Kelce’s position-winning the first three-peat in history, my fourth Super Bowl, and holding every playoff record he has-I would retire on top. Kelce’s future is already set when he retires from football, whether it be as a family man, a coach, or a TV host covering the NFL or the entertainment industry. Anyway, it seems that Travis is already preparing for life after the NFL, and as a TV host, he would do quite well. His appearance on “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?” was proof of that, Kelce was caught off guard by a Taylor Swift-related question, but responded in the boldest way possible “I know a few of them may have turned her into a Chiefs fan.”
He definitely has the charisma to be a TV host. I don’t know if that’s what he plans to do, but it could be a great career path. If not, he could follow the same formula as other high-profile players after retirement – become an NFL analyst. No doubt the networks will be after him once he retires, not just for his football knowledge, but because being Taylor Swift’s partner automatically brings massive popularity. For now, it’s clear that Kelce is comfortable in front of the cameras, and whether he retires after this Super Bowl or not, his future in television is assured.
Kelce Must Step Up for Super Bowl
Coming into the AFC Championship Game, Kelce held the NFL record for 14 straight playoff games with over 70 receiving yards, but the Bills focused entirely on shutting him down, limiting him to just two catches for 19 yards. The good news for the Chiefs was that Patrick Mahomes, as usual, found a way to solve the situation with the rest of the offense. However, this performance cannot be repeated in the Super Bowl. I imagine the genius of Andy Reid is already working on ways to maximize Kelce against the Eagles defense that allowed Zach Ertz to record 11 catches for 104 yards in the NFC Championship Game.
