Tennis Australia is making a clear play for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, extending a direct invitation for the couple to attend the upcoming Australian Open in Melbourne.
With Kelce‘s NFL season already over, officials believe the timing could finally work for one of the world’s most high-profile couples to make an appearance at the season’s first Grand Slam.
The Herald Sun reported that Australia’s tennis body has formally reached out to Swift and Kelce ahead of the tournament, which begins on January 18 at Melbourne Park.
While no commitment has been made, organisers are optimistic the pair could join the event’s growing list of celebrity guests, further boosting the Australian Open’s reputation as the most entertainment-forward major on the tennis calendar.
A spokesperson for Tennis Australia confirmed the approach and highlighted why this year feels like a genuine opportunity.
“We are looking forward to welcoming celebrities and VIPs from Australia and around the world, including some incredible guests courtesy of our AO Partners,” the spokesperson said according to the Daily Mail.
“With Travis Kelce not making the playoffs with the Kansas City Chiefs, we have extended an open invite to him and Taylor Swift to come to the Australian Open.
“This year we would welcome with open arms Travis and any of the other NFL players to experience the AO, like Joe and Micah did.”
That reference was to Joe Burrow and Micah Parsons, both of whom attended the Australian Open in 2025 and reportedly embraced the atmosphere, the crowds, and the scale of the event.
A familiar blend of tennis, celebrity, and global attention
Whether Swift and Kelce accept remains to be seen, but Tennis Australia has already locked in a strong celebrity presence for the opening stages of the tournament.
The first day of play on January 18 will feature the Set In Style dinner, a signature event that has become a fixture of the Australian Open’s social calendar.
Among those confirmed are Olympic swimming champion Ariarne Titmus, broadcaster Carrie Bickmore, fashion figure Nadia Bartel, and television veteran Kerri-Anne Kennerley. Their attendance reinforces the tournament’s ability to draw well beyond the tennis world and into broader cultural relevance.
The star power is expected to continue through finals weekend. Actor Eric Bana is tipped to attend the men’s final, while The Veronicas are reportedly set to appear at the women’s championship match.
The Herald Sun also reported that invitations have been extended to Hollywood names including Tom Hanks, Gerard Butler, and Hayley Atwell.
Liam Hemsworth is also expected to be back at Melbourne Park, possibly accompanied by fashion icon Ralph Lauren, adding another layer of international attention to the closing stages of the tournament.
The interest in Swift and Kelce follows their highly publicized appearance at the US Open in September, where they attended the men’s final between Italy’s world No. 1 Jannik Sinner and American Taylor Fritz.
During the match, cameras repeatedly cut to the couple in the stands, including a moment where they were seen singing along to “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” by The Darkness.
